India National Games Surfaced With Nova

The Indian Olympic Association in a joint effort with the Jharkhand Olympic Association has constructed a 325 acre mega sports complex outside the city of Ranchi, India. Designers toured the Olympic village in Sydney along with national stadiums in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in an effort to incorporate features of the finest international sports facilities. Nova Sports USA along with our installer Harrison Industries (Delhi, India) have been chosen to surface the complex’s seven new courts including a 2,100 seat championship court. The stadium court will host India Olympic Association tournaments along with all future India National Games.

Novacrylic Sport Surfaces Chosen for Lithuanian National Tennis Complex “SEB Arena”

The newly constructed Lithuanian National Tennis Complex located in Vilnius has chosen

our Novacushion and Ultracushion surfacing systems for their 15 indoor and 4 outdoor

courts. The project was completed by MS Sport & Design of Riga, Latvia and is intended to

be the premiere tennis facility in Eastern Europe. The complex will house various national

and international tennis competitions including the European Championships and future

Davis Cup tournaments. The tennis center plans on servicing 300,000 guests annually and

contains restaurants, shopping, fitness center and a 200 room upscale hotel. The

development of the project was supported through the European Union’s structural support

fund and has been named “an object of national importance” by the republic of Lithuania.

Lithuania’s Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas and Tennis Europe President Jacques Dupre

took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony alongside representatives from MS Sport & Design

(Riga, Latvia) and Nova Sports USA.

ASBA Technical Meeting: New Orleans, LA 2008

It was nice seeing so many of you in New Orleans last November. The 2008 technical meeting was the highest attended ASBA meeting ever.  Our good friends from Boston Tennis were awarded the  2008 RSI Builder of The Year and our friends at Baseline Sports Const. and FDC received awards for their outstanding tennis facilities.

USTA representatives gave a presentation on their new Quickstart tennis program designed to attract younger players. This involves building new smaller tennis courts or converting full size courts into 3-4 Quickstart courts. The USTA is putting a lot into this program and have even developed a special tennis ball, making the game easier for younger players. The dimensions for these new courts can be found on the USTA’s website.

                    QUV TESTING

Over the last several months all of our acrylic sport surfaces have undergone extensive accelerated weathering tests (QUV). The lab tested each surface for 2000 hours, which is equivalent to 3-4 years of outdoor exposure. All of our surfaces have received the highest ratings available and show very little to no fading.

We’ve noticed architects beginning to request a minimum 1000 hours of QUV testing in their coating specifications. This test is able to ensure the architects, engineers and    tennis court owners that they are using the highest quality acrylic coatings available. Copies of all these reports will become available shortly. Give us a call or email with any questions or to find out more info on this testing.
